Belgium – In Pictures

Our time in Belgium was short, but sweet. We found Belgium to be a little less industrial and more picturesque overall than The Netherlands. Some of the more major places visited included Brugge, Ghent and Kortrijk. The architecture was incredible, the people lovely, and the entertainment sublime (see our post, People Profiles – Belgium).  Favorite memories include a hidden concert in Brugge, cycling with Michael along the road to Ghent, our Warm Showers hosts, An, Luc, Flo, and Ono, their Flemish giant, the 10 day festival in Ghent, and a drunk Canadian at our hostel distributing free drinks for all.  Here is the slideshow:

  • On break next to the canal, Kyle and I encountered the most obnoxious group of geese we've ever come across. When the loud heckling did not reward them, the whole family started eating at the grass as if they were on the brink of starvation, occasionally casting an eye in our direction to see if we'd had a change of heart.

  • Our last major town in Belgium was Kortrijk, where we stayed for two nights in a hotel with access for guests to a pool and sauna in a sister hotel. We thoroughly enjoyed the break from the rain and caught up on our blogging. This bridge looked like it was covered in silly string!

Looks very clean! Architecture is amazing, I agree! So envy you your experience. Can’t wait to hear about it in person. Love your photos.
